Climate alignment is real. The carbon tonnes are not a loan.

A hybrid plant in Afar can be a CRGE and NDC project. It can also be a poorly consulted enclosure of pastoral land with a weak ESIA. The pack asserts World Bank EHS compliance and an “approved EIA.” We have not seen the licence.

Greenhouse agriculture in an arid setting — Closed-loop horticulture is the ESG co-benefit that can be true at 5–20 ha. Fertilizer-at-scale is a different industry.

People

Afar pastoralists are the primary rights-holders. 150 ha is small on a map and large if it sits on a grazing corridor or a well. The pack’s $3.5M community fund, 50% Afar hiring, two schools and five boreholes are the right categories. They are not a completed FPIC process.
